We are excited to announce that registration of the Learning Tree ECD programme with the Department of Education is now complete.
This important milestone strengthens our ability to continue providing quality early childhood development and creative after-school programmes for children in Stanford.
The Learning Tree continues to grow, welcoming around 25 children each afternoon in a caring, creative and supportive environment where kids feel safe, valued and excited to learn.
We look forward to more growth , learning and having fun together every day.
A variety of daily activities
Our afternoons are filled with fun and meaningful activities that support both learning and creativity.
Children participate in,
– literacy and reading activities,
– arts and crafts,
– educational games
– movement and physical play.
These activities help children grow academically, socially, creatively, and physically while enjoying their time with friends.
Holiday renovations create more space
During the holiday period we renovated The Learning Tree to improve and expand the space for our learning environment. A wall was removed to create a larger open area, giving the children more room to play and learn when and participate comfortably in activities.
The additional space has already made a wonderful difference to the daily running of the programme and has created a more welcoming and functional environment for both the children and the team.
Baking activities continue to shine
Our weekly baking sessions remain a favourite among the children! The baking groups take place in small groups of five, giving each child a turn and the opportunity to participate fully and learn practical skills.
Over the past term, the children have enjoyed making delicious treats such as muffins, cookies and pizzas. More importantly, they have been developing teamwork – confidence – responsibility, and basic cooking skills in a fun and engaging way.
Generous donation for our ECD children
We were incredibly grateful to receive a donation of mattresses from our German supporters. This generous contribution now allows the younger ECD children to rest comfortably and have an afternoon nap before being collected by their parents.
This support has greatly improved the comfort and care we are able to provide to our younger children, and we sincerely thank everyone involved in making this possible.
Steps to School ~ parents’ workshop at Die Bron Primary School
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Die Bron Primary School for collaborating with us and inviting our team to present at their recent parents’ evening.
It was a wonderful opportunity to share our Steps to School resources and educational support materials with approximately 100 teachers and parents. The evening created valuable conversations around early learning and school readiness and, practical ways to support children’s development through play and educational activities.
We look forward to continue distributing our educational games and resources within the community.
Horse outings return
We are happy the horse outings are back – in collaboration with the African Horse Company at the Stanford Hills farm during Term 2 – for small groups of four children at a time.
These outings have been a wonderful experience for the children, supporting confidence-building, personal growth and outdoor learning.
The children thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity and we are excited to be able to continue these outings through the next two terms.
