Building Skills + Enhancing Lives

People who change our life

2018-10-26-rachel-1_1260_945

Over the past 3 months we had the privilege to have such a special person in our life…a person who changes the lives of the people she enters, our teacher in residency Rachel Adams from the UK.

Rachel came with an open heart, a passion for teaching, a competent approach towards the children, lots and lots of knowledge, a willingness to share resources and work together as a team towards providing quality education for the children in the Overberg.

Rachel offered her time to run the computer room at Die Bron primary for the past term, she held teacher workshops and a wonderful session with the Star literacy team, she accompanied me to Funimfundo pre – school and Masakhane and we had a fun filled, action packed holiday program.

Watching her work reminded me of the very essence why i believe we work in education ….using ourselves in order to make a difference …for ourselves and the children we work with. It takes so little to touch one another ..we have to be present, kind, loving and really interested . That is  what we need to change lives and provide a positive outlook for the children we work with……creativity as a tool in education.

Thank you Rachel.  See you next time.

What a teacher is, is more important than what he teaches.  K. Menninger
