Building Skills + Enhancing Lives

Skills Development Group at Die Bron Primary in Stanford

2018-03-26-Die-Bron-1

Our grade 1 learners have been practising their skills over the past term via a variety of creative activities. The focus for the first term was on getting to know each other and creating a group atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable and confident to express themselves freely.

How can we enhance self expression and communication when working with young children? In our sessions we use stories to convey a message and encourage children to talk about their observations and their inner lives.

Sharing stories and looking at picture books is a much loved activity and the children enjoy this special time.

Very young children love and demand stories, and can understand complex matters presented as stories, when their powers of comprehending general concepts, paradigms, are almost nonexistent.
