“The creation of something new is not accomplished by the intellect but by the PLAY instinct .”
~ Carl Jung
The June school holidays started off with an exciting and educational arts and culture outing for the children who participate in our music and drama workshops.
We went to Zwelihle in Hermanus to attend a “Mini Festival” held during the FynArts Festival – the SAfM Schools Choir Celebration.
We watched the choirs of six local primary schools singing beautifully on the stage and also the dance and drama performances on the programme.
Regina, Vuyokazi Siza – our Choir and Music Facilitator, and Drama teacher Raine Waring, accompanied the eighteen children on the outing to Hermanus and before going back to Stanford, the happy group enjoyed a picnic on the beach – because the day was a sunny and warm one – we have had a few days like this in the Overstand this winter.
The children took full advantage of the lovely sunshine and had great fun swimming in the sea.
At the Learning Tree, our team offered a colourful and creative holiday programme to the Stanford community children with lots of variety in the activities – crafts, literacy, movement, art and play. The children also received a warm meal, made with love by our team.
Thank you Rotary Stanford, for the ingredients for the delicious winter soup and stew and grateful thanks to the Grootbos Foundation for the food support.
If you are interested in receiving our newsletters or learning more about what we do, please send Regina an email to let her know, and we will happily contact you – regina@creativeskillsfactory.co.za
